Three YONEX teen players, Donna Vekic (VCORE Xi 100), Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Xi 98) and Borna Coric (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) achieved great results to all capture titles last week.
16yearold Donna Vekic entered the ITF tournament in Istanbul as the top seed. The young player overcame her opponents to claim what would be her first title in a $50,000 category tournament. Donna’s WTA ranking climbed to 80th after this victory.
The 2013 Australian Open junior singles champion, Nick Kyrgios, competed at the Futures Yuxi City Commercial Bank Cup 2013 in China. After defeating the top seed, Hiroki Moriya (VCORE Xi 98, PTGSPN), in the semifinal, Nick played solidly, winning the championship match against No. 3 seed, Boy Westerhof in straight sets. Nick’s 18th birthday was on April 27th, and what better way to celebrate than winning the Futures title. Since the beginning of this year, Nick has continued to display strong performances, which have helped him to progressively improve his ATP ranking from 840th to 298th.
It was a great week for Croatian teen player Borna Coric. He captured his first professional title, a tremendous achievement in the young player’s career. Borna participated in the Futures tournament in Bournemouth, Great Britain and defeated No. 6 seed Daniel Cox in the final 67, 64, 63.
