YONEX tennis had a very strong week. Three YONEX players advanced to the finals in Monterrey and Charleston.
At the Monterrey Open, world No. 6 YONEX player, Angelique Kerber (VCORE Xi 100), faced two fellow YONEX players during the tournament. In order to make the singles final, Kerber defeated No. 3 seed Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125), 6-4 2-6 6-2 in the semifinals after defeating No. 8 seed Ayumi Morita (EZONE Xi, PTGSPN) in straight sets. This marks Kerber’s first final in 2013.
Kerber’s racquet of choice, the VCORE Xi 100, has supported her solid performance throughout the tournament and she commented, “the VCORE Xi 100 racquet is outstanding. It provides great levels of spin yet the racquet feels very stable. The power I can generate from this racquet gives me the confidence to take my game to the next level.”
In the doubles event of the Monterrey Open, veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm (S-FIT, PTGSPN) reached the final with Timea Babos, and they defeated No. 3 seeds Eva Birnerova / Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-1 6-4 to claim the title. It was Kimiko’s fifth doubles title of her career.
Doubles expert, Andrea Hlavackova(RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125), entered the Family Circle Cup in Charleston with Liezel Huber. The pair became finalists after winning three matches in straight sets.
