Wimbledon 2016: Straight-Set Wins for Team Yonex Players

Exceptional matches continue to unfold on the bright green All-England Club lawn at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Angie Books Place in Quarterfinal

Heavy-hitting German powerhouse Angelique Kerber (VCORE Si 100, POLYTOUR FIRE 120) proved to be a force of nature against Japanese Misaki Doi in the fourth round. The World No. 4 took to the court with a keen power game, backed up by the spin-heavy VCORE Si and POLYTOUR FIRE string.

Set 1 would open with the two players evenly matched in power, but Angie gradually turned up the dial. By the end the German had the upper hand in strength, pushing her opponent back, sealing the opening set by forcing an error onto Doi.  The Australian Open champ came out guns blazing in set 2 rushing to a 5-0 lead over the World No. 49. She advanced to the quarterfinals with a forehand winner, the final score coming to 6-3, 6-1.

Great Performances from Doubles Teams

French doubles pair and No. 1 seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert (VCORE Duel G 97, POLYTOUR FIRE 125) and Nicolas Mahut made their way into the third round with a straight 6-1, 6-3 win over Stephane Robert and Dudi Sela. The pair broke their opponents four times, winning 88% of their first serve points.

In women’s doubles, defending champions Martina Hingis (EZONE DR 100, POLYTOUR PRO 125, POWER CUSHION ECLIPSION L) and Sania Mirza have raced into the quarterfinal after a 46-minute 6-1, 6-0 win over Christina McHale and Jelena Ostapenko. The pair triumphed with their great teamwork and expert navigation of the court.
