The 3rd round of women’s singles were played in Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis on Wednesday, September 26th. 2 VCORE players showed brilliant performance to advance to the quarterfinals.
No. 5 seed Angelique Kerber (VCORE) faced Urszula Radwanska and overcame the opponent throughout the match. She won the overwhelming victory in straight sets, 6-1 6-1. Today Angelique will play against the world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka.
Another VCORE player, No. 10 seed Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE) defeated the last year’s Roland Garros champion Na Li by 4-6 6-3 6-4. Since Caroline faced Na Li at the semifinal of Australian Open 2011 but she couldn't advance at that time, so Caroline told she was very pleased and very happy to win and advance to quarterfinals this time.
In this tournament, YONEX is supporting the players as the official stringer. There are 4 staffs in the stringing booth and they string about 60 racquets per day. They talked, “We receive various requests from players, so we are working hard to respond to their expectations.”
