US Open 2016: Stanimal Roars into Round 2

The second day of the 2016 US Open saw great performances on the part of Team VCORE and Team EZONE players. Be it the ferocious spin of the VCORE Duel G or the combination of power and control in the EZONE DR, Yonex players are impressing on the court with great prowess.

Super Stanimal 

Stan Wawrinka (VCORE Duel G 97, POWER CUSHION ECLIPSION) booked a strong first round victory against Spaniard Fernando Verdasco. The No. 3 seed boasted a strong serve, not being broken even once.

The opening set proved to be a close encounter between the two veteran heavy hitters, but it was Stan who came out on top after a tense tiebreaker. The Swiss would seize the upper hand for the remainder of the match, firing off 7 aces and 30 winners en route to a straight 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-4 win over Verdasco.

He goes on to face qualifier Alessandro Giannessi in the next round.

Nick Through in Straight Sets

Australian No. 14 seed Nick Kyrgios (EZONE DR 98, POLYTOUR PRO 120) is into the second round of the US Open in straight sets with a win over English Aljaz Bedene. The 21-year-old force of nature set the court on fire with his focused, pinpoint power. Nick registered an impressive 14 aces to his name across the match, two of them winning him his first and second sets. He also picked up 43 winners, and broke Bedene 4 times to finish up at 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

He faces Horacio Zeballos of Argentina next.

Angelique Kerber (VCORE Si 100, POLYTOUR FIRE 120) and Belinda Bencic (EZONE DR 100, POLYTOUR PRO 125) head into round 2 tomorrow. Angie faces off against Croatian Mirjana Lucic-Baroni for a spot in round 3, while Belinda faces German Andrea Petkovic.
