After winning a 6-2, 7-6(2), 6-4 victory against Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos, No. 9 seed Stan met No. 21 Jerzy Janowicz of Poland in the third round. Stan outplayed Jerzy with 9 aces and 48 wins throughout the match. Stan’s offensive approach gained him five of his 14 break chances to secure a win after playing four sets [6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-3]. This puts Stan in the fourth round of Roland Garros for 4 consecutive years and now ready for his match against No. 7 seed Richard Gasquet of France, hoping to secure his next big win in Paris.
In women’s singles, No. 12 seed Maria maintained great form to progress to the fourth round without losing any sets. Taking only 58 minutes for Maria to overpower her Australian opponent Ashleigh Barty in the second round, ending with a score of 6-3, 6-1. The following match was a tough competition that lasted over two hours, but Maria was victorious in overcoming Swiss player Stefanie Voegele in straight sets [7-6(3), 7-5]. Aiming for her first quarterfinal in Roland Garros, Maria prepares to face US player Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the fourth round.
