Ana’s match will start this afternoon on Philippe-Chatrier Court, with the World No. 7 Serb meeting with World No. 13 Safarova for a ninth time. The last time the two met was in Tokyo at the Toray Pan Pacific Open quarterfinals last year. Ana defeated the Czech left-hander in straight sets at 6-3 6-2, firing off five aces while her opponent was unable to land a single one. Ana would go on to win the tournament, grabbing her fourth title for the year, and her 15th career title.
Stan will face local athlete Tsonga tomorrow evening to try and book a spot in the final. The two have met six times, and Stan has won in their last two outings. Their most recent outing was at the 2014 Davis Cup, where Stan helped lead the Swiss team to their first Davis Cup title. Before that, the two met at the 2013 Mutua Madrid Open quarterfinal—Stan would go on to reach the finals at the tournament.
