VCORE Xi 98) had an excellent weekend in doubles, blazing through rounds two and three with his partner Maximo Gonzalez. The two managed to clinch a win from one set behind in round two against No. 14 seeded pair, Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen, claiming victory in the last two sets. The final score was 5-7 6-4 6-4. The two then confidently challenged Andre Begemann and Robin Haase in round 3, with a final score, 6-1 3-6 6-3. Between defeating the No. 14 seed in round 2, and coming out on top over the pair that defeated the No. 2 seed in round 3, Pico and his partner are proving they have what it takes to successfully face off against strong players. They will face Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the quarterfinal. This will be the second time the pair has made it to a Grand Slam quarter-final since reaching the semi-finals in the 2008 US Open.

Angelique Kerber (
VCORE Xi 100) made it through to the fourth round, defeating Slovakia’s Daniela Hantuchova in an hour and 47 minutes in round 3. Kerber’s win came just in time, as the day’s events were interrupted due to a power failure immediately following her victory. In their fifth match against one another, Kerber took advantage landing six break points, hitting one ace, and snagging 17 winners. The final score was 7-5 6-3. Kerber lost in the fourth round against Eugenie Bouchard, but has had really strong performances throughout the tournament.

PTGP125) getting off to a solid start in round one, defeating Petar Conkic in straight sets, 6-2 6-4. He’s pairing up in doubles with Pedro Martinez Portero to face Daniel Appelgren and Wei Qiang Zheng. Keep an eye out for this young player’s future matches – we’re expecting great things from him!
