May 30-31 and June 1, mark days six, seven and eight of this year’s Roland Garros tournament. YONEX player
Juan Monaco (
VCORE Xi 98) had an excellent weekend in doubles, blazing through rounds two and three with his partner Maximo Gonzalez. The two managed to clinch a win from one set behind in round two against No. 14 seeded pair, Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen, claiming victory in the last two sets. The final score was 5-7 6-4 6-4. The two then confidently challenged Andre Begemann and Robin Haase in round 3, with a final score, 6-1 3-6 6-3. They will face Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the quarterfinal. This will be the second time the pair has made it to a Grand Slam quarter-final since reaching the semi-finals in the 2008 US Open.
