Maria Kirilenko wins WTA Champs Doubles Title

Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) and her partner fellow Russian Nadia Petrova won their biggest WTA doubles title at the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships in Istanbul on Sunday.


The Russian team defeated Sara Errani/Roberta Vinci with 1-6, 6-3,10-4 in the semifinal who is the first qualifying team of the tournament. At the final, they met No. 2 seeds Czech Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125)/Lucie Hradecka and captured the title with a 6-1, 6-4 victory, defending two break points while Russians’ serving.


Maria and her partner now have won 4 doubles titles in total, other three are Cincinnati 2008, Moscow 2009 and Miami this year.
