After competing the Australian Open, the next WTA tournament PTT Pattaya Open was held from January 27th to February 3rd in Thailand. 2 YONEX players Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) and Sabine Lisicki (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) reached the women’s singles final.
In the match, No. 2 seed Maria played solidly against Sabine’s aggressive form. Sabine attacked to overcome Maria with 12 aces in her service games, however, Maria made 10 break chances and achieved 6 times. Maria’s spirited play exceeded Sabine’s powerful performance to win the championship match by 5-7 6-1 7-6(6). Maria claimed her sixth title at singles events of WTA Tour.
Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm (S-FIT, PTGSPN) advanced to the doubles final at the Pattaya Open with her partner Casey Dellacqua. They faced Akgul Amanmuradova / Alexandra Panova and defeated the opponents in straight sets by 6-3 6-2. Kimiko captured her 4th WTA doubles title since she won the e-Boks Open on April, 2012.
