It was the third day of Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis on Tuesday, September 25th. 2 VCORE players, Angelique Kerber (VCORE) and Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE) showed solid performance to advance to the 3rd round of women’s singles.
No. 5 seed Angelique faced the local Japanese Ayumi Morita (EZONE Xi, PTGSPN) in the second round. The German exceeded the opponent especially in her service games. Angelique scored points more than 70% of the time when she succeeded in the 1st serves. After 3 breaks, she defeated the opponent in straight sets by 6-3, 6-4.
We received Angelique’s comment for this tournament, “Happy to be in Tokyo! Come and support me.” Also, she left a message in Japanese, “I will try my best.”
YONEX EZONE Xi player Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) came to Japan, although she missed this tournament because of injury. She visited YONEX booth and talked about her gears.
She talked, “YONEX is improving every year and I'm trying to change the racquet at least once in two or three years. Every time I change, my level of tennis has been improved a lot. I have been using this string for two years, I just love them and I will continue to play with this one. I don't wanna change it to anything else because I feel so good.”
