No.5 seed Angelique Kerber (VCORE Xi 100) notched a big victory against world’s No.4 and No. 2seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the quarterfinals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Thursday, September 26th. Angelique faced the Polish player at the tournament for the third consecutive year and finally claimed victory for their last two matches.
In addition to her decisive serving performance against Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Ai 98) in the third round, Angelique was very consistent by holding serve nine of her 10 service games against Radwanska. En route to her 6-4, 6-4 stright sets victory, Kerber broke the Radwanska eight times.
She said after the match, “I think I concentrated really well from the first point to the last one. I think my serve worked very well tonight and I think that was the key to the match. I’m actually feeling very good here in Tokyo. My game plan worked very well and I’m just happy to be in the semifinals here for the second time,” said Kerber.
In the semifinal match on Friday Angelique will meet 2010 champion, Caroline Wozniacki.
