June 4th, 2014 brought us another exciting day at Roland Garros. Jaume Antoni Munar Clar (EZONE Ai 100, PTGP125) continues his climb to the top, defeating his eleventh-seeded American opponent in round three of boys’ singles. Jaume dominated the match and confidently snagged five break points against his opponent’s zero. Playing incredibly strong with zero unforced errors against his opponent’s six, and landing three aces, Jaume took the match in straight sets with a comfortable score of 6-2 6-1.
Jaume is back on double duty today, appearing in both the boys’ singles and doubles quarterfinals. In singles he goes up against fourteenth-seeded Marcelo Zormann of Brazil, and in doubles he faces first-seeded pair of Stefan Kozlov and Andrey Rublev. This rising star is one to keep an eye on.
Rebecca Sramkova (VCORE Xi 98, PTGSPN) is also moving onto the quarterfinals in girls’ singles, facing off against the Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova.
With two YONEX junior players in the quarterfinals, it’s safe to say that our juniors have been exhibiting superb performance once again in this year’s Roland Garros. Last year’s tournament saw talents like Borna Coric (VCORE Tour 97, PTGSPN) make it to the boys’ singles semifinals, and Belinda Bencic (EZONE Ai 100, PTGH125) was the winner in girls’ singles. Watch for YONEX’s junior players, as these exciting young stars are already displaying great talent so early in their careers.
