Three YONEX star players entered quarterfinal matches on Day 11. Doubles specialist Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) exhibited superior performance to reach the semifinals for the third consecutive year.
Andrea and her partner Lucie Hradecka met Cara Black / Marina Erakovic, who defeated ninth-seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld / Kveta Peschke in the second round. It was a tough start for the Czech duo losing the first set 2-6, but the seasoned pros played consistently to come back from behind. Their opponents had strong performances, but the pair played solidly, capitalizing on their break chances to overcome the tough rivals. Winning 4 of 7 break points during the match, the Czech pair secured a 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 victory to punch their ticket for their third semifinals in Roland Garros.
It was a good tournament for Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) advancing to the quarterfinals in women’s singles of Roland Garros for the first time. Following this milestone, Maria also achieved to break into the world top 10 in WTA ranking.
Aiming for the junior Grand Slam titles, two YONEX teens play their quarterfinal matches today.
