Hingis Inducted in Tennis Hall of Fame

Swiss legend and former world No. 1 Martina Hingis was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 13th in Newport, Rhode Island.

Martina’s induction marked the Hall of Fame’s recognition of her outstanding tennis career. She reigned as No.1 in both singles and doubles— with five Grand Slam singles titles and the career Grand Slam in doubles.

We are very proud of Martina’s prestigious achievement. At only 32 years old, Martina is the fourth youngest player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. She is the newest addition to a list of young Hall of Fame phenoms that include Tracy Austin, Bjorn Borg and Hana Mandlikova.

32-year-old veteran Lleyton Hewitt (VCORE Tour 97) entered the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport last week. The Australian No. 4 seed was the runner-up for the second consecutive year. This year, Lleyton reached the finals by defeating the 2011 and 2012 champion John Isner in the semifinal round.  Lleyton was able to defeat the former champion in 2 hours 11 minutes with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 score line.

In the WTA event, Andrea Hlavackova (RQiS 2 Tour, PTGP125) and Lucie Hradecka competed at the Hungarian Grand Prix. In the final, the pair overwhelmed their opponents Nina Bratchikova and Anna Tatishvili in straight sets [6-4, 6-1]. Andrea won her thirteenth WTA doubles title of her career.
