The 2010 Australian Open quarterfinalist Maria Kirilenko (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) faced Shuai Peng of China yesterday. After winning the close first set in 73 minutes, Maria caught the momentum to win another set with 2 breaks. She showed spirited play to keep all her service games in the match. In the men’s singles, 22-year-old Ricardas Berankis (EZONE Xi 98, PTGP125) played against 25th seeded Florian Mayer and won the overwhelming victory by 6-2 6-3 6-1 in just 77 minutes. Ricardas overcame the seeded player to earn 5 aces and 36 winners throughout the match. Also he made 10 chances to break while the opponent did 3 times. Despite his second entry to the main draw of Australian Open, Ricardas fought with confidence to advance to the third round. He talked, “It was the very hot day reaching 40 degrees, but I could play keeping comfort by YONEX shirt with VERY COOL.” In the next round, Ricardas faces the 2010 and 2011 Australian Open finalist Andy Murray.
