ECLIPSION3 - Designed for Stability

TOKYO — Yonex Co., Ltd is proud to announce the POWER CUSHION ECLIPSION3 tennis shoe, launching Feb. 20, 2020*.

The ECLIPSION series was developed for superior footwork with enhanced stability for intermediate to advanced players. The ECLIPSION3 model features POWER CUSHION^TM+ with new technology and designs, including POWER GRAPHITE DRIVE, a one-piece outsole, and a pinpoint pattern on the clay court models for optimal performance.

POWER CUSHION^TM+ increases shock absorption and repulsion for faster footwork. With the combination of POWER CUSHION^TM+ and POWER GRAPHITE DRIVE, the ECLIPSION3 has increased mid-foot stability to propel you forward and support your next step.

The new design also features a one-piece outsole and trusted Durable Skin on the upper. The one-piece outsole provides greater surface area for increased contact with the ground, allowing for improved lateral movements and stability. The ECLIPSION3 is reinforced with Durable Skin – an adaptive material that supports agile footwork – for a stable, yet flexible fit.

For grass and clay-court surfaces, a new pinpoint sole pattern was designed to maximize gripping for optimal slides. With three new patterns that work together to help control the grip and slide, you can push off and recover to your next shot efficiently.

The ECLIPSION3 was debuted at the ATP Cup in Australia to kick off the 2020 season.

INNOVATION

POWER CUSHION^TM+

POWER CUSHION^TM+ is a ‘light and fatigue-reducing’ material. POWER CUSHION^TM+ has a 28%*¹ increase in shock absorption and a 62%*² increase in repulsion when compared to conventional cushioning material (EVA). A raw egg can be dropped from 12 meters above a POWER CUSHION™+ mat, rebounding to a height of 6 meters without breaking*³. POWER CUSHION™+ also provides 25%*3 better shock absorption, and a 12%*⁴ boost in repulsion.

POWER GRAPHITE DRIVE

A graphite sheet is inserted from mid-foot to the forefoot to increase stability and propel you forward to the next shot. The graphite sheet prevents twisting at the midfoot and helps restore the sole after flexing.

ONE-PIECE OUTSOLE

A one-piece outsole from heel to toe is added for stability. With a greater surface area touching the ground, you have more control and agility for improved lateral movements. 

PINPOINT PATTERN

A newly designed pinpoint sole pattern for grass and clay-court surfaces maximizes gripping for optimal slides.

1. The mid-area pinpoint pattern is designed to be longer and straight, allowing more contact with the court to provide more grip.
2. For the section below the big toe, the pinpoint pattern is angled to optimize for the pressure, allowing for less deformation and added grip / traction.
3. The pinpoint pattern is shortened to lessen the contact with the ground for optimal slides. When you apply pressure to stop, the pins dig in for traction

This unique design increases gripping power by 23%*¹ and sliding performance by 9%*2.
