Caroline Wins Opening Match

It was just the next day of Caroline Wozniacki (VCORE)’s victory in Korea, she made the first appearance in Tokyo on Monday September 25th.


Caroline was solid enough to take the opening set with 6-0 but the second set, her opponent showed the persistence during rallies and Caroline couldn’t close the match in the straight sets. After the rain break at the centre court, Caroline played aggressively again with her powerful shots and won the match with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 victory.


Caroline told that during the rain break in the final set, she was trying to be relax and so she could, that’s why she played well after the break.


Caroline will face Slovak Daniela Hantuchova at the second round on today’s night session.


It’s the local Asian tournament for Chinese Zheng Jie (EZONE Xi 98, PTGSPN), and she met American Vania King in the opener. Attacking with her EZONE Xi racquet, Jie overcame the opponent in straight sets by 6-3, 6-4. Today she is going to have 2 matches, singles and doubles.


The world No. 6 ranked player Angelique Kerber (VCORE) will play her first match in this tournament. She faces local Japanese player Ayumi Morita (EZONE Xi, PTGSPN) who defeated Sorana Cirstea in the opener by 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
