BNP Paribas Open Recap: Kerber Stuns with New VCORE Galaxy Black

INDIAN WELLS, California – Three-time Grand Slam champion, Angelique Kerber (GER) demonstrated stellar play at the BNP Paribas Open over the weekend capturing her first runner-up result of the tournament.

Kerber’s path to the final included blockbuster matches against Venus Williams (USA), who she defeated in the semifinals in straight sets, and fellow #TeamYonex member, Belinda Bencic (SUI). Bencic, still riding on a high from her Dubai Tennis Championships victory last month, had won a stunning 12 consecutive matches leading up to their faceoff.

Although it was Kerber’s first Premier Mandatory tournament final and she was defeated by opponent Bianca Andreescu (CAN), it was a battle until the very end with the Swiss saving three match points and breaking back for 4-5 in the third set.

Since signing with Yonex at the beginning of the year, Hubert Hurkacz (POL) has been on a tear through the ATP rankings. Setting a personal best, World No. 54, Hurkacz stunned opponents in the earlier rounds of the tournament before falling in the quarter-final. Keep an eye out for Hurkacz and the rest of #TeamYonex as they gear up for Miami Open next.
