Next leaders performed brilliantly to win the Superseries title at YONEX French Open 2012, which was held from October 23rd to 28th. 2 YONEX player, Daren Liew (VT80) and Viktor Axelsen (VTZF) met in the men’s singles final.
Daren played aggressively against Viktor to earn 15 smash winners throughout the match. With his strong smashes, which were so effective to defeat the current European No. 1 Jan O Jorgensen in the semifinals by 18-21 21-17 21-10, Daren took a lead in the first set and won by 21-18. The second set was so close, but Daren scored 4 points consecutively after 17-all to capture the first major title in Paris.
This year, Daren played in All England as a qualifier and advanced to the Quarterfinals after defeating Boonsak Ponsana in the opener, who became the runner-up at YONEX OPEN JAPAN 2012. And, Daren achieved to win the first title at the YONEX French Open and this was also his first final in International events. It was a big step for him to become the next leader of badminton. We believe that Daren will ranked world no. 1 as the next Lee Chong Wei.
Viktor, who is still 18 years old, became the runner-up at the French Open. This week, He will compete at the Individual event of BWF World Junior Championships in Chiba, Japan, and he aims to win the men’s singles title as the world No. 1 junior player.
Please keep your eyes on the 2 promising players, Daren and Viktor.
