Belinda Bencic Wins First WTA Title at Aegon International Eastbourne

June 28th saw Swiss rising star Belinda Bencic (EZONE Ai 100, POLYTOUR HS 125) win her very first WTA title at the Aegon International Eastbourne. A Premier-tier title, this victory is huge for the 18-year-old, making her the youngest player to win a Premier title since 2008.



An un-seeded entry in the tournament, the World No. 22 faced off against four seeded opponents to seal her first WTA victory. In her final match against Agnieszka Radwanska, the teenager exceled in the final set after a tough first two. In just 24 minutes, Belinda boasted sharp and focused play to win the final set at love, with the match closing at 6-4, 4-6, 6-0.

“Today I won my first WTA title. I'm really so happy for your support, and I thank you for believing in me from such a young age,” commented Belinda on her victory, and YONEX’s support.

Also in singles, Daria Gavrilova (EZONE Ai 100POLYTOUR PRO 125) reached the quarterfinals, defeating No. 13 seed Sara Errani in the third round at 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. In doubles, Martina Hingis (EZONE Ai 100POLYTOUR PRO 125, SHT-PROL) and Sania Mirza made it to the semifinals.
