Australian Open: Another Hometown Victory

Day 4 at the Australian Open saw Yonex players continue their advance through the first Grand Slam of the year.

Australian Daria Gavrilova (EZONE DR 100, POLYTOUR PRO 125) made it through to women’s singles round 3 for a second straight year, cheered on by her home crowd. Going up against Croat Ana Konjuh, Daria reeled off five games to take the first set, boasting rock-solid defense and offense. While the end of the second set would see scores evened, Daria made a strong comeback with extensive court coverage and powerful strokes via her EZONE DR. The Aussie would reach 5-3 with a resounding ace, proceeding to finish off the match with an explosive forehand winner. The final score came to 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.

Caroline Garcia (VCORE SV 100, Yonex String) made it past junior countrywoman Oceane Dodin, advancing with a final score of 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4. The French hit 7 aces and 43 off of her VCORE SV, completing the match in just over 2 hours.
