Ana Soars Through to Third Round in 2014's Roland Garros

May 29, 2014, the fifth day of Roland Garros, turned out to be an exciting one. YONEX player Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Ai 98) once again proved to be unstoppable, advancing to round three in the tournament with another straight-set victory. Stepping onto the court to face Elina Svitolina, having met previous times, this would be their first time playing against each other on a clay court. The match opened with an intense down-to-the-wire first set, with both breaking each other more than once, and at one point tying 5-5. However, with her eyes on the prize, Ana shifted to the offensive in the first set’s final game, and took the match. The second set proved to be less stressful for Ana, and she played confidently. Breaking her opponent twice and hitting 13 winners, she ended the match with a decisive winner right down the line. The final score was 7-5 6-2.

This match had fans at the edge of their seats, and Ana on her toes. “The first set was very tight from both sides. I was really happy to hold my nerves in the end of that first set and then sort of pick up my intensity and rhythm in the second,” commented Ana, according to her official website.

The former Roland Garros champion is on fire and seems poised to reclaim her 2008 title. She faces the No. 23 seeded Lucie Safarova in the third round.

Ana is continually advancing with the use of her YONEX EZONE Ai racquet. In a video interview while in Madrid, she praised the racquet’s control, and how it grants her better spin on the ball. It goes without saying that the EZONE Ai also provides its users great speed, giving pros like Ana the speed they need to get ahead.

In other matches on day 5, YONEX Player Julia Glushko (EZONE Xi, PTGSPN), defeated Kirsten Flipkens; and Kimiko Date-Krumm (S-FIT, PTGSPN) showed a strong performance in doubles with her partner Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. The pair was victorious over Anabel Medina Garrigues/Yaroslava Shevedova.
