Ana Ivanovic Earns First Grass Court Title

A decade after going pro, YONEX player Ana Ivanovic (EZONE Ai 98) captured her first and long-desired grass court title at the Aegon Classic on June 15, 2014. She made her way through the tournament without losing a single set, going on to face Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova in the final. Top-seeded Ana shined on the grass court, showing improved performance. She dominated the match with heavy ground strokes, swinging her EZONE Ai and approached the final with solid aggression. She defeated her un-seeded opponent in straight sets by a huge margin, 6-3 6-2.

This marks Ana’s 14th career win, and her third title of the season. After this recent victory, she has a newfound confidence when playing on grass surfaces and can proudly step onto the grass courts at Wimbledon on June 23, 2014. “What a perfect week! I didn’t have many expectations when I arrived in Birmingham, and to win while losing so few games is a dream come true,” commented an elated Ana. “One of the keys to my victory this week was my aggression – thanks to YONEX for providing me with a racquet that allows me to attack with confidence.”

Nick Kyrgios Wins at Aegon Nottingham Challenger

YONEX player Nick Kyrgios (EZONE Ai 98) won his third ATP Challenger title of the season at the Aegon Nottingham Challenger on June 14, 2014, securing a spot in the Wimbledon main draw as a wildcard. Nick played against fellow Australian Sam Groth in a final match defined by some big hits. The match had to be stopped due to rain late into the second set, but the small setback didn’t stop Nick from taking the match 7-6(3) 7-6(7). Nick received a call from Wimbledon officials immediately after his great achievement.

“Wow! Pleased to get through that! Always nice to get a call on court from the Wimby Ref saying I have an MD wild card to @Wimbledon! #BOOM,” commented the young Aussie on his Twitter account, @NickKyrgios.

We’re looking forward to the further achievements of YONEX players at the upcoming Grand Slam grass-court tournament, Wimbledon! Stay tuned.
