2019 BNP Paribas Open: Men's Quarterfinal Preview

INDIAN WELLS, California — Unseeded Hubert Hurkacz (POL) followed up his win over 6th-seeded Kei Nishikori with his third-straight three-set victory at the BNP Paribas Open.

Hurkacz, who switched to the VCORE PRO 97 in the offseason, converted all three of his breakpoint opportunities against Denis Shapovalov to advance to his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal where he will face Roger Federer. Friday’s match will mark the pair’s first career meeting.

On the women’s side, Belinda Bencic (SUI) and Angelique Kerber (GER) will play Thursday afternoon for a spot in the semifinals. Bencic is on an 11-match winning streak and will play Karolina Pliskova, while Kerber will face a fellow former World No. 1 in Venus Williams.
