18-Year-Old Casper Ruud into First ATP Quarterfinal at Rio Open

After earning his first pro match win at the ATP 500 Rio Open earlier this week, 18-year-old Casper Ruud (EZONE DR 100, POLYTOUR SPIN 125/POLYTOUR PRO 125, POWER CUSHION ECLIPSION) of Norway is into his first ATP quarterfinal. The #NextGenATP star defeated Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain in the tournament’s second round on February 23rd to make it to the round of 8.



The feisty 18-year-old dropped a very close opening set but turned the match around in the second. Casper landed 10 huge aces via his EZONE DR en route to his 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3) win. With this victory, the Norwegian young gun is expected to rise to a career-best ranking of World No. 168.

Casper has been competing equipped head-to-toe in Yonex. The #NextGenATP star is able to play to his best on the court thanks to the technology utilized in Yonex apparel and tennis shoes.

He is set to meet local player Thiago Monteiro in the quarterfinal.
