BENGALURU, India – Yonex India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Yonex Co., Ltd., opened a new factory in Bengaluru and began manufacturing India-made full-carbon graphite badminton racquets in June. The brand held an opening ceremony and a factory tour on Friday, June 30, opening the doors to a wide range of guests and partners, including Indian badminton legend, U. Vimal Kumar.
Yonex India has been manufacturing steel and aluminum badminton racquets in Bengaluru since April 2017. The new factory is the second Yonex factory in India and is aimed to provide full-carbon graphite racquets at scale. The racquets will be designed for performance-seeking badminton fans across the nation. The factory plans to triple the current manufacturing volume in three years.
Badminton is gaining popularity in India as top Indian shuttlers achieve remarkable results on the global professional circuit. India’s men’s national team triumphed in Thomas Cup 2022, the World Men’s Team Championships, for the first time in history. In the most recent Indonesia Open in June 2023, the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty (IND) took their first win, beating last year’s World Championships winner.
With Yonex’s company philosophy, "To craft a better future with unique innovations" at the core, the new factory will manufacture high-quality products that meet the needs of Indian players. By delivering “Made by Yonex” badminton racquets to more customers, we hope to support their game and the growth of badminton in India.
