It‘s semifinals day on December 14 at the BWF World Superseries. Players competing at this event will be the first to benefit from this live test of line-call technology. This will provide instant reviews and players are allowed to make two challenges per match. Judge and spectators alike are enjoying this first ever technology in a badminton tournament.
Lee Chong Wei (VTZF, SHB01LTD) and Tommy Sugiarto (ARC11) had the same outcome as yesterday; Chong Wei played against Jan O Jorgensen. Focused on putting pressure at the net, Chong Wei attacked with speed, effectively challenging his Danish opponent. Unlike his last close match, Chong Wei defeated Jan 21-14 21-16.
Tommy played an intense match against Kenichi, taking the first game, 21-14. Kenichi changed his speed to win the second game, 21-19. In the final game however Tommy applied added pressure by delivering powerful attacks forcing Kenichi to make errors. Tommy won the match to advance to the final 21-14 19-21 21-5.
In women’s doubles, Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR-ZSP)/Christinna Pedersen(NR800, SHB-01LX) dominated with their speed to overpower Jang Ye Na/Kim So Young of Korea. World No. 2 Danish duo defeated their opponent 21-12 21-18 and will face China’s Ma Jin/Tang Jinhua in the final.
The men’s doubles match up this year was the same as the 2013 World Championships. Mohammad Ahsan (ARC-FB)/Hendra Setiawan (NR800, SHBF1NLTD) and Mathias Boe (VT80)/Carsten Mogensen (ARC-FB, SHBF1NLTD) played to reach the final stage. The Indonesian duo lead almost the entire game, with the Danish pair trying to catch up, but ultimately succumbed to Mohammad/Hendra who won the game, 21-18 21-18.
Christinna and Joachim Fischer Nielsen advanced to the mixed doubles final after Xu Chen/Ma Jin retired at 21-8 11-3.
