Lee, Juhl & Pedersen Become Runners-up at Singapore Open

The Singapore Open was held from April 8th to 13th and the World No. 1 ranked player Lee Chong Wei (VTZF2, SHB01LTD) advanced to his 5th consecutive finals match at the Superseries events in 2014. Chong Wei and the World No. 2 ranked pair in the women’s doubles, Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR-ZSP) and Christinna Pedersen (NR800, SHB-01LX) became runners-up.

After winning the YONEX-SUNRISE India Open the week before the Singapore Open, Chong Wei displayed a solid performance and didn’t lose a single game on his way to the final. Unfortunately he ultimately lost to Simon Santoso in the final by 21-15 and 21-10.

Kamilla and Christinna had a tough match against Japanese pair Ayaka Takahashi and Misaki Matsutomo in the semifinal. Kamilla and Christinna struggled to score points against the strong defense of Ayaka and Misaki. However, in the second game the Danish pair applied pressure around the net causing their opponents to become impatient. Kamilla and Christinna advanced to the final with a score of 11-21, 21-15 and 21-14.

The Danes played another tough match against Chinese Bao Yixin and Tang Jinhua and lost with 14-21, 21-19, and 21-15 at the final. They have also had good performances this year with 2 semifinal matches in the Superseries events, with Christinna  winning the 2013 BEC Best European Female Player of the Year Award.

Chong Wei will play in the Badminton Asia Championships from April 22nd to 27th and Kamilla and Christinna will play European Championships from April 23rd to 27th. We are looking forward to their next achievements.
