Denmark Open SSP: Fine Results from YONEX Shuttlers in Closing Days

This past weekend was the conclusion of the Denmark Open Superseries Premier, with Team YONEX boasting great results in the tournament’s closing days.

In men’s singles, Kashyap Parupalli (ARCSABER 11) made it to the semifinals after a heavily offensive match against local favorite and badminton juggernaut  Jan O. Jorgensen (VOLTRIC Z-FORCE ,SHBSC6iEX). Kashyap demonstrated cool confidence in his match against the world No. 3, winning at 21-19 21-15. Number three seeds and world No. 3 pair Mathias Boe (ARCSABER 11,SHBSC6iEX)/Carsten Mogensen (ARCSABER 11SHB87LTD) were also semifinalists, giving the Chinese pair of Chai Biao/Hong Wei a run for their money after coming back from a set down in the preceding quarterfinal match. Despite facing the skilled pair, the two Danes figured out their opponents in the first game, bouncing back with a vengeance in the last two. Boasting a strong return game, the two Danes won 16-21 21-18 21-15.

On the women’s side, the doubles semifinal had No. 3 seeds Ayaka Takahashi (VOLTRIC 80)/Misaki Matsutomo face off against No. 6 seeds Reika Kakiiwa (VOLTRIC 80)/Miyuki Maeda (VOLTRIC 70 E-tune) in a repeat of this year’s YONEX OPEN JAPAN final. While being nearly evenly matched in the first game, Ayaka and Misaki conquered their teammates in the second game, registering a straight-sets victory, 21-18 21-12. They came out as the runners-up after a final match with China’s Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang.

While most of the action happens on the court, tournaments are also a great place for fans to meet their favorite stars off the court. This year’s Denmark Open proved no different, with top-players like Jan O. Jorgensen and Mohammad Ahsan (NANORAY 900SHB87LTD)/Hendra Setiawan (NANORAY 900SHBF1NLTD) giving autographs to many excited fans. Even retired former world No. 1 Peter Gade also showed up at his country’s tournament, signing memorabilia and posing for pictures with fans.

Team YONEX will be back in full-force tomorrow (October 21st) at the YONEX French Open, so watch their progress and see where they go next!
