Chien, Chan & Goh Become Runners-up in Sydney

YONEX players were victorious again at the 2012 YONEX Australian Open Grand Prix Gold held at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from April 3rd to 8th.



Former world No. 1 women’s doubles player, Chien Yu Chin (ARCZSTH) advanced to the final after defeating No. 1 seed Miyuki Maeda (VT70) and Satoko Suetsuna (CAB35) in the semifinals. In the final, she and her partner Cheng Wen Hsing faced Chinese pair Luo Ying and Luo Yu. They took the first game, but the opponents won the second. The final game was very close, however, Chien and Cheng couldn’t win the game and final score was 21-12 18-21 17-21.

In the mixed doubles, No. 3 seed Chan Peng Soon (ARC10) and Goh Liu Ying (NR700RP) faced #2 seed Chen Hung Ling and Cheng Wen Hsing. They also went into the final, nail-biting game. After a 1-hour and 3-minutes match, which was the longest match of the day, #2 seed pair clinched the title.
