BANGKOK, Thailand — The long-awaited professional badminton tour is back, and the first 3 tournaments are scheduled to take place inside IMPACT Arena in Bangkok. The three tournaments, YONEX Thailand Open, TOYOTA Thailand Open and HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2020, are an attempt to bring new COVID safety practices to the sport of badminton and pave way for future tournaments.
For many of the players, these tournaments are the first time back to the competition environment in 10 months since the YONEX All England Open last March. With this moment of badminton revival, #TeamYonex athletes are sharing behind-the-scenes pictures and videos on social media under the hashtag, #CourtsAreCalling. The hashtag was created to remind badminton fans of the feeling of playing badminton, and inspire them to return to the courts.
Limited edition tournament t-shirts are now available with the message “Badminton is Back #CourtsAreCalling” printed alongside the official tournament logos.
