Adcocks Win the Swiss Open Title

YONEX English pair Chris Adcock (VTZF2, SHB01LTD) and Gabrielle Adcock (VT80, SHB01LTD) won the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold title. Greysia Polii (ARC-FB, SHBF1NLX) became the runner-up, in the women’s doubles.


Chris and Gabrielle are currently ranked fifth in the world, and are the 2013 Hong Kong Open winners. The pair faced Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin in the semifinal, a rematch after their fist meeting in the Hong Kong Open final.


Chris and Gabrielle won the tough match with a score of 21-18 19-21 21-17.


In the final match Chris and Gabrielle had a close first game against Chinese players Chai Biao/Tang Jinhua. The English duo advanced by attacking aggressively from 14-all. The Chinese pair made several errors under the pressure from Chris and Gabrielle. After taking the first game 21-17, Chris and Gabrielle had a huge lead in the second game. They kept the lead from the beginning and finished the match with a straight, 21-17 21-13.

Greysia and her partner Nitya Krishinda Maheswari defeated Kamilla Rytter Juhl (NR-ZSP)/Christinna Pedersen (NR800, SHB-01LX) in the quarterfinal and became runners-up after a tough match against Chinese Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua, 19-21 21-16 21-13.
